We have a heart for the environment

Enjoy a sustainable holiday at Rovell Hotels ...

Rovell Hotels have a heart for our shared environment. We are committed to preserving and protecting it, which is why – alongside many small and large environmental measures – we have put together our Top 20 Green Facts. It is important to us to run our hotels sustainably and to keep the earth as a livable place for future generations. Treating valuable resources with respect and care, and working with local partners, goes without saying for us.

1. Paperless working

We work as paperless as possible in all areas – for example, our guest correspondence is stored digitally only. All internal workflows are handled and archived digitally.

2. FSC-certified paper

As far as possible, all advertising, information and print materials are produced using sustainable, FSC-certified paper.

3. Company bicycles

On request, we provide our employees with company bicycles so that they can largely avoid using their private cars.

4. Free job ticket

On request, we give our employees a free job ticket for the regional railway company.

5. Sustainable investments

We have made it our mission that our day-to-day actions and all future investments are shaped by sustainability. We are always striving to meet the expectations of an intact environment.

Technology, kitchen, spa

6. Regional and seasonal products

In our restaurants we place great importance on using seasonal products from regional suppliers wherever possible, in order to avoid excessively long transport routes.

7. Less packaging waste

Thanks to our “fresh cuisine” concept and the preparation of dishes in-house, we reduce packaging waste. We use seasonal products without additional freezing or packaging. Our regional suppliers are always preferred and are encouraged to use as little packaging material as possible for fresh products.

8. Efficient dishwashers

The latest high-efficiency dishwashers reduce the amount of detergent needed and lower both energy and water consumption.

9. Ordering in bulk

Orders for the service, housekeeping and spa departments are placed in larger batches wherever possible, in order to significantly reduce CO2 emissions during transport.

10. Eco detergents & bio fair-trade

We use only eco detergents for our in-house laundry and environmentally friendly cleaning agents such as Samedisoft. In addition, we use exclusively bio fair-trade guest linen, and our partner laundries work with certified, environmentally friendly high-tech processes.

11. Room cleaning

In the rooms we provide a door hanger that allows our guests to consciously waive room cleaning for the sake of the environment. Each time a cleaning is skipped, around 6 litres of water, 3 types of cleaning agents, 1 load of laundry and about 15 minutes of electricity are saved.

Resources

12. Combined heat and power plants & photovoltaic systems

Combined heat and power plants and photovoltaic systems generate electricity in an environmentally friendly way. The residual heat is used to heat our outdoor pool all year round. Almost 80% of our total heat and electricity requirements are thus generated in-house and sustainably.

13. Water softening & treatment systems

State-of-the-art water softening and treatment systems with additional heat recovery are available for all areas of the hotel.

14. Own wells

Our own wells supply water for irrigating our green areas.

15. Cisterns

Rainwater is collected in cisterns, treated and used, among other things, for flushing the toilets.

16. LED technology

All our properties are equipped with modern LED technology. LEDs are efficient, long-lasting and environmentally friendly to dispose of. Their lower power consumption means less CO2 is released into the atmosphere. Every kilowatt hour of electricity saved reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 590 grams.

17. No plastic

We do not use disposable tableware made of plastic. We avoid plastic drinking straws and use biodegradable straws made from corn starch instead. Our takeaway hot drink cups are biodegradable, and the tableware for external events is made from palm leaves. In the spa areas, our drinking cups are made from 100% recyclable, PEFC-certified hard cardboard, reusable acrylic or compostable sugarcane – all, of course, with an eco-label.

18. Environmentally friendly materials

For our room amenities – from vanity sets to bath slippers – we always select the most environmentally friendly materials possible.

19. Wooden pencils

Instead of plastic ballpoint pens, we provide wooden pencils in the rooms.

20. Natural cosmetics

Our spa brands are strongly committed to nature, are produced using energy from renewable sources and are free from parabens, mineral oils, silicones, artificial colourants and animal-derived ingredients – and of course they come in environmentally friendly packaging.
